Gossip or reality? Accusations of cheating and substance abuse may spell the end for Sarah Palin’s marriage.
It has been Sarah Palin’s misfortune that her detractors have enjoyed assigning nick names to the former Alaska Governor; ranging from Caribou Barbie to Sarah Failin’! But, it is to her credit that she has taken them on smiling publicly if not privately. She has also joined the list of politicians whose marriage affairs seem to be of interest to the public; Sarah Palin has been dogged with rumors of the collapse of her marriage to husband Todd Palin and father of her five children since 2008.
Right from the year 2008, the couple has been reportedly struggling with their marriage and even contemplating divorce. The Palins’ had at that time, vigorously denied any such problems in their marital life, but recently, a 2007 email written by Sarah has surfaced to create a niggle of doubt in the readers’ mind, wherein, Sarah Palin talks about divorcing her husband. Sarah has laughed off her email saying that she was joking and not serious. But, to make matters worse, a 2011 tell-all book by Joe McGinniss’s book called The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin was released that alleges that her ex brother-in-law, Mike Wooten had in fact, allegedly confirmed the 2008 reports implying that it was her pregnancy then, which made them continue with their troubled marriage.
In 2011, Joe McGinniss’s controversial book called The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin was released in which he made some sensational claims about the ex-Governor. Among the many allegations he has put forward, he writes about Sarah Palins’ one-night stand with Glen Rice, a basketball star when she was an anchor for a sports show and he was a University student, her also indulging in substance abuse with cocaine and having an affair with her husband’s business partner Brad Hanson leading to Todd dissolving their snowmobile dealership as a direct consequence. Even Sarah Palin’s brother has been quoted as allegedly saying to a friend that they didn’t have a real marriage.
It is widely felt that such sordid allegations which were widely publicized, may have not only destroyed Sarah Palin’s Presidential dreams but, also had Todd finally getting tired of his wife’s misdealing and contemplating divorce.
Though Sarah Palin has denied the claims made in the book and has been scathing about it and the writer who had apparently taken the house next door to the Palins to get more dirt on her, New York Times has also weighed in with its support and has contemptuously called the book a piece of ‘unsubstantiated gossip’.
It is then of some interest to wonder that what did really happen and how will it all end for the twenty odd years of marriage of the Palins?
