Cheating and drug abuse caused Khloe Kardashian to file for divorce, but ten months and a relationship with French Montana later she is still married to Lamar Odom.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom married one month after having first met. That’s fast even for a celebrity couple. The ceremony was a lavish affair with 250 guests and cameras rolling the entire time. Such is life when you are a reality TV star.
Two years into their marriage Khloe and Lamar even got their own show. It lasted for a year and they played the picture perfect couple. But make no mistake: rumors of trouble between the pair have been abounding throughout the last two years of their marriage.
Lamar had reportedly not the greatest time of accepting the constant cameras in their life, despite agreeing to do their own show. But he was first and foremost a basketball player, concentrating on training and his matches. It’s easy to see how a reality show might interfere with that.
For a while at least the couple was happy and untroubled. There was talk of creating a family and pregnancy. They even announced the names for their hypothetical children, a boy and a girl.
But the reality TV star wouldn’t get pregnant and the press pounced on it. Khloe later said she wasn’t as bothered as everybody else that she didn’t get pregnant right away. It is well established that they kept trying, however.
Even now there is talk of her becoming a mother by herself, likely through adoption at this point. If there are fertility issues, they are with Khloe, because Lamar already has two children from a previous relationship. On top of everything else that would not be an easy thing to handle for Khloe.
Trouble began for the couple when Lamar was traded from the Lakers, his team of seven years, to the Dallas Mavericks, where he also didn’t stay very long, eventually joining the L.A. Clippers. It was around the same time the rumors of problems in their marriage came out full force. Cheating on Lamar’s behalf made the news and Khloe was reportedly worried about his partying. She allegedly also forced him into rehab at that time.
But in January 2013 they were still trying for a baby and they were still very much married.
Throughout that year ups and downs were dragged through the media, more cheating allegations came out and Lamar’s continued problems just added to the mix. Khloe held strong for a while.
By the end of August 2013 everything pointed towards a separation. Khloe was seen without her wedding ring, divorce rumors swirled around, Lamar was not allowed in their home, they were not on speaking terms, and finally she said she wouldn’t divorce him until after he returned to the NBA, fearing a relapse into his drug abuse.
On December 13, 2013, she finally filed officially for divorce. Ten months later, however, they are still very much married, albeit not a couple anymore.
Khloe moved on, being briefly linked to The Game, she then dated rapper French Montana for almost six months. They’ve been very quiet about their relationship in the beginning, only confirming it during an interview they held together with Angie Martinez. After being inseparable for the longest time their relationship is now also over, but it has yet to play out on our TV screens in the newest season of “Keeping up with the Kardashians”. Keeping up with anyone in the Kardashian family seems to be quite a challenge.
Khloe was heartbroken over her break-up from French Montana, but maintains that they are still friends. The reason for the break-up seems to have been text messages that he sent to one of her very best friends. Clearly those text messages were not of an innocent nature.
It is said that Khloe has turned to anti-depressants in order to deal with the latest upheaval in her life. Said life, especially her love-life, appears to be somewhat in limbo now. She’s still married, but lives as a single for now. She wants children, a family, she wants it all and who could blame her?
Meanwhile her husband Lamar is still hoping to salvage the marriage, but that is a different story entirely.
