Lara Spencer and David Haffenreffer married in 2000 and went on to have two children together. For all the world to see the couple was most certainly happy and very dedicated to their children. But in March this year the two announced their mutual decision to get a divorce. Despite calling it a sad decision, because they respected and loved each other and their children, it sounded pretty inevitable.
Neither has ever actually given further reason as to why they decided to divorce and unfortunately that means we have only the National Enquirer’s allegations to fall back on.
Among other things they have told us at the beginning of the year that Matt Lauer and Lara Spencer were getting awfully cosy. That prompted divorce rumours for Matt’s own marriage, which is still going pretty strong as far as anyone can tell. But ultimately that myth was debunked, because the competing TV hosts rarely have any contact with each other and there’s no evidence that they’ve even been seen together in any capacity.

Not long after that, however, it was alleged that it was Matt Lauer who broke up Lara Spencer’s marriage, because of an affair or because he kept pining over her or whatever the National Enquirer cooked up.
Again, there’s not a shred of evidence for this and ultimately it would seem that the reason for Lara’s and David’s split were Lara and David. Perhaps they realized they were better off as friends. Both lead busy lives and whilst they seem to always have time for the children, that left little time for each other.
It’s a fact that Lara and David went on vacation together with their children after they announced their divorce. And recently, with the divorce settled, the exes went out to a sports event with their children with everyone looking quite happy.
The settlement details of their divorce are not known, but it’s been said that they will continue to raise their children together and that everything was quite amicable.
Does anyone really believe that the two would remain such good friends if cheating had played a role in their divorce? Most people are not that magnanimous.
It’s certainly curious that Matt Lauer’s name keep cropping up, but we might as well claim a conspiracy theory against him spearheaded by the National Enquirer, before we believe anything that magazine comes up with.
