While it is true nothing lasts always and forever, the seemingly fairy tale marriage between Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas lasted an exceptionally long time, especially according to Hollywood’s matrimonial standards. Tinsel Town’s golden couple recently called it quits after 18 years of marriage. Griffith, 57, filed for divorce from Banderas, 54, in Los Angeles Superior Court in June of 2014 citing irreconcilable differences.
In a joint statement released by their representative, the couple said, “We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together – Melanie & Antonio.”

The friend added that “Griffith was always there to support him, but in recent years she has been tired of being his plus one and wanted to do more before she retired.”
