It’s not unusual for men to lament about the so called unfathomable complexity of the female mind. While there’s probably more than an iota of truth behind that claim, the most men keep making the same basic mistakes over and over again that drive women away and cause their relationships to fail. If you can’t get your relationship to last over a few months and have no idea what you’re doing wrong, here are four of the most common mistakes that men make.
1. Over-emphasizing Physical Intimacy
Obviously, sex is important in a relationship. However, contrary to what most men think, there are a lot of other factors that matter just as much. Constantly asking your partner for sex or suggesting the same through clichéd innuendos will give her the impression that you’re only in the relationship to get in her pants. Nothing drives a woman away quicker than desperation.
2. Insecure Behavior
Insecurity is a major turn-off for both sexes but even more so for women. It usually manifests itself in the form of over-possessive and jealous behavior. Logically speaking, hounding your woman about whom she was speaking to on her phone or disapproving of her going out with her other male friends, will probably force her to stop sharing details of her everyday life with you. Learn to respect her personal space if you want your relationship to last.
3. A Massive Ego
Confidence in a man is a major turn-on but a big ego will inevitably push any self-respecting woman away. Remember to never confuse the two. Obviously, you should never sacrifice your sense of self-worth and pride in any relationship, but don’t ever think the world revolves around you. Be prepared to admit it when you’re wrong and sometimes be ready to apologize even if you’re not.
4. Bad Etiquette
Regardless of how long you’ve been dating, there is nothing that puts off a woman as much as rude comments or condescending behavior. Even if you’re having a fight, you should know how to resolve it while being polite and courteous. While most women don’t really expect their boyfriends to be the perfect gentleman, chivalry is still a sought after virtue in a man. As dated as the practice may be, you still get brownie points for holding the door open for your lady.
